Dr. Carolin Rekar Munro is Core Faculty in the Faculty of Management teaching in the Bachelor of Commerce and MBA programs and serving as intellectual lead for Leadership. Carolin joins us from Ontario where she had been teaching in the Bachelor of Commerce program at the University of Ontario Institute for Technology; the MA program at Central Michigan University; and served as Coordinator and Professor of Human Resources and Training & Adult Education in the School of Business at Durham College. Since 1994, Carolin has managed a successful consulting practice specializing in change management, organizational renewal, strategic planning, performance management, executive coaching, succession planning, and teambuilding; with a client base throughout Canada, U.S., and South America in manufacturing, telecommunications, health care, retail, non-profit, and hospitality.

Carolin received her Masters and Doctoral degrees with a focus on Developing Human Resources and Leadership Excellence from the University of Toronto. She also has a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation from the Human Resources Professionals Association; and a Certified Training and Development (CTDP) designation from the Canadian Society for Training and Development. Carolin was recipient of the Ross A. Hennigar Memorial Award – granted by the HR Association in recognition of business, academic, and community achievements.

As a strong community advocate, Carolin has been involved in the HR Association’s Educational Standards and Accreditation Committee; the Research Review Team at Princess Margaret Hospital; Academic Council; strategic planning and implementation initiatives for local businesses; Social Action Committee on Homelessness; and provincial volunteer screening initiative teams.

Carolin is published in developing and sustaining high performance teams; ROI from learning and development initiatives; leadership models for transitioning teams from dependence to interdependence; best practices in teaching and learning; wellness management of HR practitioners; transitioning to e-learning environments; and mentoring needs and expectations of Generation-Y HR practitioners.
