Don Caplan offers more than 30 years experience as a post-secondary instructor, management consultant and facilitator in the areas of organization behaviour, human resource management and strategic management. In addition to being an RRU Adjunct Professor, teaching in the MBA and BCOM Programs at RRU, Don is currently Royal Roads’ MBA Major Projects Manager responsible for the Organizational Management Project (OMP) process; the MBA Capstone Course.
Over the past six years at Royal Roads, Don has been an Organizational Consulting Project Advisor and has taught Management Consulting, Managing Change, Human Resource Management and Organizational Relations at the MBA level (both on-line and face-to-face) as well as Organizational Behaviour and Managing Organizational Change in the Bachelor of Commerce Program. Also, he has taught Marketing and Organizational Behaviour to 3rd and 4th year undergraduates at University of Victoria. Most recently, Don was involved in the re-design of RRU’s Bachelor of Commerce Program in the capacity of Project Lead.
In addition to several iterations as a management consultant, Don has held senior management positions at the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and at the University of Alberta where he was Director, Planning Support Services (TSX) and Director Improvement Programs and Director, Staff and Student Payments at the University of Alberta.
Don’s major research interest is in the area of Intuition in Management Decision-Making.
Born and raised in Montreal, getting his BA in Economics (Sir George Williams University - now Concordia), Don developed his career in Toronto where he completed his Masters of Education (University of Toronto).
He now lives in East Sooke, BC where he enjoys a rural lifestyle with his family and "extended" family (two Cocker Spaniels).
