Donald Prescott is an assistant professor of entrepreneurship in the Faculty of Management (FoM). Don's first university degree was a BA in Linguistics (First Nations and Asian Languages) from the University of Victoria followed by a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) also from the University of Victoria.

Following a decade in the public sector, Don moved into private business where he was involved in the creation, development, operation and management of an international trading corporation conducting business between North America and China. As president of this company, he lead a team of talented internationally experienced individuals conducting market research and facilitating the movement of commodities from Asia to North America.

As a business consultant to both the public and private sectors, Don has helped small to medium sized organizations in evaluating international trade markets, assessing market opportunities, understanding cultural differences and implications, as well as developing negotiation strategies. He has created business plans for entrepreneurial clients and helped small companies in such areas as human resources, organizational change, business development and shareholder relations.

Before coming to Royal Roads, Don developed and taught college and graduate level business courses including “Business Practices in Asia-Pacific”, “International Negotiating in Asia-Pacific” as well as “Entrepreneurship” and “Marketing”.

As a certified auctioneer (WCA – Billings), Don has worked in the cruise line industry as an art auctioneer and conducts charity auctions whenever possible.
