She taught a Research Methods course from 2008 to 2010. She was also an advisor to learners on their Organizational Consulting Projects. She is currently teaching the Understanding Economic Decision Making course at Royal Roads University. Elsie also teaches Economics and Research Methods courses for learners in both the private and public sectors at the University of Victoria. Her areas of expertise include International Business/Economics, Global Marketing Analysis, Financial Economics, and Quantitative/qualitative analysis.
Elsie Chan holds an M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Victoria, and is the president of Elsie Chan & Associates Inc., which provides professional qualitative/quantitative research in both the public and private sectors. She has extensive experience in project management, designing surveys and focus groups, collecting and analyzing data, and also presenting findings in both comprehensive written reports and public presentations. Elsie has conducted the first ever done comprehensive survey of cruise ship passengers visiting Victoria. The results were presented to over 150 local businesses at a luncheon information session in Victoria downtown business community including extensive media coverage.
In 2000, Elsie won the University of Victoria’s Alumni Association’s Excellence in Teaching Award, and has been featured in numerous publications for her teaching brilliance. In 2001 and 2002, she was named one of the most popular professors in Maclean’s Guide to Canadian Universities & Colleges. She was also featured in the article “Inspiring Educators”, which was published in Focus on Women (now Focus) in September, 2000.
