Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Jane Wilson first became familiar with distance learning through correspondence courses in high school. After completing high school, she moved to Victoria with her family. She worked for the Royal Bank of Canada for eight years in various positions culminating as a Branch Administration Officer. Having begun her studies on the Certified General Accountant's program during this time, she went on to work in the University of Victoria accounting office and then with a public practice firm. In 1984, after receiving her CGA designation and an award for top marks in taxation, she decided to remain in public practice, becoming a partner in the firm and continuing there for six more years.
In the early 1990s, she began working as controller for a private corporation which she continues with now on a part-time basis while being a distance instructor for RRU. She has been facilitating courses in accounting and corporate finance on the MBA and BCom programs since 2003. She also volunteers on the executive of the Parents’ Auxiliary Society at her daughter’s school.
Jane lives in Victoria near the Cedar Hill golf course with her husband, daughter and their West Highland terrier, Maggie. Her spare time is filled with being a field hockey mum, her book club, walking and biking.
