She has over 10 years experience in leadership and management development and has taught in the fields of Human Resources Management, Organizational Behaviour, Change Management and Skills for Management at both post graduate and undergraduate level. She has written educational materials for a number of NGO’s and educational institutions, including the Leaders in Development Program at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University; Thompson Rivers University and Transparency International. Lauren’s professional accomplishments include the development and delivery of a Human Resources Capacity Building Program for the South African National Education Ministry.
Lauren’s research has focussed on appropriate teaching methods for encouraging the development of judgement and instinct for action, ensuring that students are able to enter the workplace with the skills needed to make decisions and solve problems. As assistant director for Teaching and Learning at the Graduate School of Public and Development Management (P&DM) at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, Lauren was involved in processes set up to transform teaching practice in the field. She has worked with a range of universities and government agencies in southern Africa to move towards more participative styles of teaching and learning.
Lauren is also an accredited Kundalini Yoga teacher. She is passionate about encouraging people to become self-directed learners and about empowering those she teaches with the skills needed to lead balanced and fulfilled lives.
