Dr. Stephen Long is a Professor in the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University. Stephen’s experience spans academia and both private and public sector organizations.
Before moving into his current position, Stephen was the Dean (Acting) of the Faculty of Management. Prior to that assignment, he has been Associate Dean of the Faculty, Program Director for the MBA program, and Program Director for the Bachelor of Commerce Program. His teaching activities in the Faculty have been in the areas of organizational behaviour, human resource management, organizational development, and management communications.
Prior to joining Royal Roads, Stephen was with the Faculty of Administration at the University of Regina, where he taught organizational behaviour and human resource management. Before Regina, Stephen was a faculty member at the Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, where he developed and taught a Management Communication course for the school's MBA Program. He has published in the Journal of Management Development and Ivey’s Business Quarterly.
Outside of academia Stephen has worked for a range of organizations such as Xerox, the Public Service Commission of Canada and Currie, Coopers and Lybrand. He was also a partner in his own human resource development firm.
Stephen's research interests are in the areas of organizational culture and management education. He is also involved in human resource consulting where he specializes in strategy development, group dynamics, and general management development.
