In addition to teaching for RRU, she is currently teaching (online) financial accounting at the introductory and intermediate levels to undergraduate students. She has also facilitated a course in a professional accounting program and has taught onground accounting and business courses. Her business is involved in the design of online courses and in authoring supplemental material for accounting textbooks. Susan also has many years involvement in the CA qualification process. In addition to her work in the education field, Susan provides services in accounting, tax and assurance, to a small CA firm.
Susan has been actively involved in the governance of the Chartered Accountant profession on a provincial, regional and national level. She is a past president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Newfoundland and past member of the Council of Presidents of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. She has also served on various committees of the institutes.
Susan has also taken online and correspondence courses and can empathize with students. If you have questions or concerns at any point she wants to know – so please ASK, either in the online discussion groups or via e-mail and she will respond as quickly as possible. She is very approachable and wants to help so don't be afraid to send along an e-mail message or if the question is likely of general interest post it in the class wide discussion groups.
Susan lives on the west coast of Newfoundland, in beautiful Corner Brook, a town of approximately 25,000. She is married and has three children - two sons and a daughter and two Siamese cats. Her husband is a forester. Her family is active in many different sports and she is trying to keep up. She also enjoys reading and needlecraft.
